Awards Show Graphics Package & Set Design for Game Independent Game Festival Awards.
THE CLIENT
Informa Tech, a market leading B2B information provider specializing in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Their mission is to inspire the tech community to create a better world through design. Informa Tech educates, connects communities via research and creates digital media, events, training products and services.
THE BRIEF
We were asked to design and produce all set graphics for the Independent Games Festival Awards.
The Independent Games Festival was established in 1998 to encourage innovation in game development and to recognize the best independent game developers. The goal was to create the equivalent of a Sundance Film Festival but for independent game developers.
THE CHALLENGE
Our biggest challenge was to create interesting visuals that would complement the stage layout and also capture a level of design sophistication and innovation worthy of the Independent Games Festival.
THE DELIVERY
We chose a bold design of bold colors and patterns and alternated this with use of organic shapes throughout the stage to completely immerse the talent into the stage. The larger-than-life set graphics were full of movement and energy.
For each of the categories we created a family of designs that were all related but each was given its own unique features so they would be different from the next. Heavily bolded, graphic fonts were used to display the category names and a matching winner animation was created to be displayed once the award recipient was announced.
The graphics created for the set enhanced the narrative of the event as one of innovation, playfulness, and future-thinking.
